How to Share an iPhone Calendar with a Google Calendar

If you want to view your iPhone calendar inside Google Calendar, you’ll need to make it publicly shareable and use a Webcal link. While this method provides read-only access, it’s a quick and effective way to keep your Google Calendar updated with your iPhone events (Learn how to sync Google and iCloud calendars).

Follow the steps below to set it up using your iPhone and a desktop browser.

1. Open the Calendar app on your iPhone.
2. Tap the Calendars tab at the bottom of the screen. This will show all calendars linked to your iPhone, allowing you to view and manage each one.
3. Choose the iPhone Calendar you want to share. The Calendar app organizes calendars by account—for instance, if you’ve connected both Google and iCloud/Apple Calendar accounts, your Google calendars will appear first, followed by your iCloud calendars.
4. Tap the info icon located to the right of the calendar you want to share. This opens the sharing settings, where you can add people and manage access.
5. Switch on the Public Calendar toggle. This allows anyone to subscribe to a read-only version of that calendar.
6. Tap Share Link
7. Copy the Webcal URL. After clicking the Share Link button, the default iPhone share modal pops up. You should click the Copy button to only copy the Webcal URL.
8. Open Google Calendar. To share your iPhone Calendar with Google Calendar, you’ll need to use the web version, as the mobile app doesn’t support this feature. Go to https://calendar.google.com in a web browser.
9. Locate the Other Calendars section on the left-hand sidebar of the page. This is where you can add calendars shared with you or by URL.
10. Tap the + Icon. The plus icon is located on the right of the Other Calendars section.
11. Tap From URL. After selecting the plus icon next to "Other Calendars," a pop-up will appear. Choose the option labeled From URL to proceed.
12. Paste the URL you copied from the iPhone Calendar. Back in step 7, you enabled Calendar Sharing and generated a Webcal URL. Now, insert that URL into the From URL field in Google Calendar.
13. Tap Add Calendar
Your iPhone Calendar is now successfully shared with your Google Calendar. You should start seeing all your events synced and ready to go!

How to share an iPhone Calendar with an Outlook Calendar

To share your iPhone calendar with Outlook, you’ll follow a similar process to sharing with Google Calendar, by enabling public sharing and using a Webcal link. If you need a more accurate and complete picture of your schedule, consider syncing your iPhone calendar to Outlook.

1. Open the Calendar app on your iPhone.
2. Tap the Calendars tab at the bottom of your screen. This will show you all the calendars currently connected to your iPhone, and let you manage each one individually.
3. Select the calendar you want to share. iPhone groups calendars by account—so you’ll see your Google calendars together, followed by your iCloud calendars, and so on.
4. Click the info icon. The info icon is located on the right of the iPhone Calendar you want to share. After clicking it, you’ll be able to manage the sharing settings and share it with more people.

9. Click the Add Calendar section. The Add Calendar section is located on the left side of the page, on the sidebar.
10. A pop-up window titled Add Calendar will appear, giving you options to add an external calendar.
11. Select “Subscribe from web” from the sidebar. To import the Apple Calendar you just shared, click the Subscribe from web option in the pop-up’s sidebar.
12. Paste the Webcal URL into the input field. Use the link you copied earlier from your iPhone Calendar and paste it into the field in Outlook. This connects Outlook to your shared calendar.

FAQ: iPhone Calendar Sharing Permissions

When you share your iPhone Calendar, especially through iCloud, you’re giving others access to view your events. Unlike Google Calendar, sharing your iPhone Calendar usually means making it public via a Webcal link, or inviting someone with edit access by default. That’s why it’s important to review your sharing permissions carefully.

There are two main ways to share your iPhone calendar:

  1. Public Calendar (Read-Only) -
When you enable the Public Calendar option, Apple creates a Webcal link. Anyone with this link can subscribe to your calendar and view its events, but they won’t be able to make changes.
  2. Private Sharing via iCloud (Editable by Default) -
If you invite someone directly through iCloud, they’ll be able to add, edit, and delete events by default. This is great for close collaboration but can be risky if you don’t want them to make changes.

Yes, but only in certain cases. If you use iCloud to share your calendar privately, you can go back after sending the invite and disable the Allow Editing option. Unfortunately, you can’t adjust this setting before the invitation is accepted.

If you just want someone to view your events without giving them editing access, use the Public Calendar option. It provides read-only access via a Webcal link. For private sharing, only invite people you trust, and remember to turn off editing rights unless collaboration is necessary.

Definitely. Always double-check which calendar you're sharing, it might include sensitive or personal events you didn’t mean to expose. If privacy is a top concern, consider using a sync tool like CalendarBridge, which keeps your calendars updated without making them public or editable.
